episode 101 - Series Premiere
next We open with KYLE, SANDRA, and MICHAEL on a routine patrol. They track down and kill two werewolves.
We learn that TOM BURKE of the Seattle Police department has been baffled by mysterious murders involving silver bullets. His brother, JASON, is an attorney and is planning his wedding to fiance, LAUREN.
When Jason witnesses vampires attacking Sandra, he is hunted down by the coven. He is bitten, but the attack is interrupted by a cop, leaving Jason "half-made".
Tom and Lauren show up at the hospital. A cop tells Tom that his brother was bitten by a woman. When AARON, the coven elder, learns that Jason survived he sends JACQUELYN back to finish the job. Tom and Lauren walk in on Jackie as she is about to bite Jason again and she flees.
Later, Sandra drugs Tom and Lauren, and takes Jason to their hideout, a penthouse in the city. When Jason realizes what has happened to him, he is devastated. Meanwhile, Tom vows to find out what happened to his brother.
The coven of vampires finds the pentouse and attacks in full force. Kyle is bitten again and turned into a complete vampire. Sandra, Michael, and Jason escape to the now-abandoned Space Needle.
In the end, Jason watches from the fire-escape as Lauren cries. Sandra tries to console him, but he blames her for all that's happened. Later, Michael and Sandra discuss Jason and thier future now that Kyle is gone. Michael tells her they will continue to protect the mortals of this city. It's what Kyle would have wanted.
Sandra and Michael go to see their supplier, BEN GELLAR, at one of the local blood banks. They pick up some packets of blood and warn him about Kyle.
In the Space Needle, Jason has been isolating himself from Sandra and Michael. Sandra tells Jason about her transformation (flashback). It was in the 1950s. Vampires attacked her on her wedding day. They forced her to watch as they killed everyone at the reception including the groom. Then, they turned her, but the police arrived and she survived. She tells him at least those he loves are still alive. Jason takes little comfort in this.
Sandra and Michael head out on their nightly patrol. They discuss Jason. Sandra is concerned, but Michael thinks he just needs time. They also talk about Kyle.
Jason goes out alone. He watches Lauren's apartment from a fire escape across the street. He sees her and fights the urge to run to her. He gives in and walks over. As he crosses the street he senses a presence. He notices a young woman being followed by a VAMPIRE. He follows them to a small park. When the vampire makes his move on the woman, Jason pulls him off her and fights with the vampire. Jason is almost killed, but in the end he manages to defeat him and the vampire flees. Jason looks at the blood on the woman's neck. She was bitten. It is tempting. She thanks him, but he just snaps at her to get out of there and she does.
Later, Jason goes to an Internet cafe and starts researching online, looking for a way to reverse what has happened to him. He also checks out the News Site and reads Lauren's articles. He reads a report about his own disappearance as well as other articles about the bizarre murders around town. He is sweating and the bloodlust is getting to him. He needs to feed.
Sandra and Michael find a dead body beside a dumpster downtown. The half devoured body is clearly the result of a werewolf attack. As they examine the body, a resident of the building sees them and calls the police. Tom hears the report come in and responds. He tells all units, no sirens, no lights. He arrives first and sees Sandra (Michael is unseen behind the dumpster). He pulls out his gun and tells her to freeze. Sandra and Michael look at each other. Michael shoves the dumpster toward Tom. Tom opens fire as he dives out of the way of the dumpster. It rolls onto the sidewalk, then tips over the curb. When Tom looks again, they are gone. He discovers the dead body. Tom is very disturbed by the half-devoured corpse.
Later, the CAPTAIN puts more pressure on him to solve this string of bizarre murders. Tom has a sketch artist put out a picture of Sandra.
That night, Tom and Lauren have dinner together. They discuss Jason's case. Tom tells her until they find a body, he believes that Jason is alive out there and he is going to find him. They are still trying to find the taxi driver from the cab in the alley where they found Jason. Lauren wonders if he ran off to avoid marrying her. Tom tells her that's ridiculous. Jason loved her. She senses he is hiding something from her. He lies and says he isn’t. He doesn’t mention seeing Sandra again.Meanwhile, Aaron and Jackie take Kyle to a warehouse at the docks. On the way, they discuss the remaining "half-breeds". Kyle tells him of their pact and that they each had secret sanctuaries in case one of them was turned. He does not know where they are. Jackie suggests luring them out. They still have Jason's wallet and cell phone (101). When they walk in, we see that half the warehouse is a giant refrigerator. Aaron says it used to be a meat-packing plant. He says it's perfect. Kyle asks perfect for what.
When Sandra returns from patrolling Jason tells her that he's come across several theories about ways to cure them. She realizes he went out and tells him that it was stupid considering the entire police department is on the lookout for him. He tells her he went back to the abandoned building to look for his jacket, but it's gone. His cell phone and wallet were in there. If the coven has them, nobody he knows is safe. Sandra tells him that's been taken care of. She decides not to tell him about their encounter with Tom.In the end, we see Tom parked outside Lauren's apartment. He has a note in his hand that says "Lauren is not safe, especially at night".
